Abstract

-Abstract-
The purpose of this study was to obtain time series data set for the development of
craniofacial growth prediction model. The samples for this study were 648 dental arch
stone models of 7-year-old children who had been last year, too. From 648 dental arch
stone models, 8 dental arch lengths and widths were measured with Vernier caliper
(Mitutoyo Inc, Japan). Factor analysis was used to summarize these 8 variables in
proper factor scores. The dental arch patterns of males and females were classified on
the basis of those factor scores using cluster analysis. The obtained results were as
follows;
1. Among 8 dental arch width and length, maillary canine length, mandibular molar
width, mandibular canine length and mandibular molar length were used to classify the
dental arch patterns of 6 and 7-year-old males and females.
2. Among 8 dental arch width and length, maxillary canine width and mandibular canine
width were used to classify the only dental arch patterns of 6 and 7-year-old males.
3. Among 8dental arch width and length, maxillary molar width and maxillary molar
length were used to classify the only dental arch patterns of 6and 7-year-old females.
4. In males, dental arch patterns had been classified by 6 clusters when they had been
6 years old, but were classified by 5 clusters when 7 years old.
5. In females, dental arch patterns had been classified by 4 clusters when they had been
6 years old, but were classified by 5 clusters when 7 years old.
